Florian Junge is a self-taught sculptor born in Hamburg, Germany living in South Africa. He moved to Mozambique with his family as a young boy and then to South Africa at the start of his schooling career. In South Africa he often creates life-size arabian horse sculpture which is for sale at Pezula Conrad, Knysna.
Florian Junge acquired inspiration from his father whom he describes as being a true and natural artist at heart. Like father like son, Florian sees art in almost anything and transforms everyday articles into works of fine art. By using reclaimed items, predominantly reclaimed steel, he aims to express life, movement, action and the natural world.
He explains, “I am a self ‘learning’ artist. I use the word ‘learning’ because if we stop doing so, we stop being alive. I love learning new techniques and ways of looking at the world. For that very reason I only produce once-off original pieces.” He believes that by investing his heart, mind and soul into his sculpture he invites viewers to touch something deep within themselves – an experience all people can experience.
His sculpture is in major collections globally.
